LIVES AT STAKE DUE TO THE INCREASED DRY SPELL
Lives of people in three parishes in Mubende district are at stake over the increasing water crisis due to the prolonged dry spell.
Ddumba Sentamu the chairman for mannyogaseeka parish explained that the situation is running out of control where by prices for water are where prices are shooting daily where by each jerrican of water cost 2000-2500 shs .
Ddumba added that most affected areas include Kiteredde, Ndeeba and Mannyogaseeka in Manyogaseeka subcounty in Mubende district.
Ddumba further mentioned that some parents have forced the children to abandon school so that they can help them fetch water for domestic use and for the animals yet the distance to the water sources is s too long 10 to 12miles while the water is no that appropriate for use much of it is yellowish and muddy.
Ddumba explained that crops like matooke, coffee ,sweet potatoes and cassava have weathered due to the much sunshine and have a fear that this dry spell might affect the economy as well as break out into famine that will leave them starving .
