HIGH COURT SEATING IN MUBENDE DISTRICT
Resident judge from the central high court circuit covering Mubende, Mityana, Kiboga and neighboring districts Justice Wilson Maseru Mussena yesterday opened up the high court seating in Mubende district at the court premises to listen to capital offenses of inmates of have taken long on remand at different prisons mention Muyinayina and Mubende prisons respectively.
A total of 75 cases from one hundred prisoners charged of cases like<
.Defilement
.Aggravated murder
.Robbery
.Defilement are to be heard and judgments taken after the suspects conceding guilty and the pre bargaining settings are to last for 10 days. The prisoners having accepted their fate will be sentenced to a minimum periods and serving them will undergo rehab to avoid such mistakes once and for all.
Justice Maseru mentioned land disputes and domestic violence through fights at home plus drunkardness as the major causes of these capital offenses.
He also told the press that in two months time a Resident judge is to be assigned permanently to Mubende, Kiboga, and Mityana to handle capital offenses.
