MUBENDE DISTRICT RESIDENTS LEARN THE ROLE OF MUNICIPAL COUNCILS
Mubende district councilors and political analysts met the locals at the Mubende taxi park to see with them on how far they have gone with the lobbying of a municipality aimed at increasing district service delivery
Led by the Bageeza sub county district councilor Ntambi Julius showed their disappointment with the level of service delivery within the district given to locals. The Mubende town council is now infamous for corruption and poor service delivery to residents case in point the chairman lc 5 Mr. kibuuka amooti, the town council mayor Mr. . kizito ziiwa who are after promoting their own hidden agenda.
Services like water supply, garbage collection, infrastructure development and extending job opportunities to the youth are cases to mention and worrying enough is that as the group[ tried to lobby for a municipality from the president, faced a lot of sabotage from the district officials, the rdc and the police respectively though they succeeded.
“Are you happy, if so why”?, the district councilor asked the residents.
Mubende district is one of the oldest and biggest in size countrywide ranked sixth but achieving slow development with one town council an issue which the political analysts believe is lagging the district behind.
Former town council chairman lc three Mr.mugume Jerome lamented about the district councils staff priotisation of purchase of luxury vehicles and attending workshops when it is clear the district has no financial capacity to execute duties thus remaining largely uncountable to the residents and stake holders.
Thus they asked the residents of Mubende town council to join them have a one voice in the lobbing of a municipality to better the districts’ electricity delivery, sewage and sanitation, storm water systems, municipal health services, decision around land use, local public transport , street trading abattoirs and fresh food markets name it
