MUBENDE TOWN COUNCIL ELEVATES TO MUNICIPALITY
Mubende district town council yesterday passed a motion to ratify guidance from the ministry of local government on elevation of Mubende town council to municipality status. The joyous council members convened at the district council local government chambers at kaweeri were they all unanimacily came to a consensus to come up up with given administrative units additions  to satisfy the necessary legal requirements of population quota and land area on top of public outcry.
The emergency district council seating chaired by the district speaker hon. Nakiguli enfrance agreed to pass a motion of creating divisions of proposed Mubende municipal council, and in accordance with sections[2] and 17 [a] of the local governments act cap 243 and the guidance  from the ministry of local government, the chairperson lc5 hon. Kibuuka Amooti moved the proposed motion of Mubende turning a municipality.
Mubende district is made up of a population worth 100,000 residents and according to political analysts, the area had taken long to be pronounce das a municipality. Residents are too anxious of the current development and believe this will solve a lot of the pending problems the district has been encountering say the poor sanitation, low infra structural development, un employment leading to the increasing crime rate within the district and promoting education and improved health services near to the residents.
Divisons were created aimed aat improving and speeding on the district service delivery and ensure faster development of thearea and comprising of four divisons;West, East, Southern,and Nothern divisions with over 18 new areas merged to the town council to make a municipality.
The wards currently existing in mubende town council which are to also included in the proposed municipal council are six in number thus making up all the requirements for a municipal council.
The chairperson lc 5 Mubende district hon kibuuka Francis Amooti expressed his gratitude to the president his excellence Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for his continued support towards the development of Mubende district and seeing to it that they attain their long desired motive of Mubende district elevating to a municipal council which was attained recently. He believes the recent victory Mubende district has attained of elevating to a municipality will solve a lot of pending issues mention the creation of new divisions, proper planning for the residents and avoid unequal distribution of resources, handling the problem of unemployment, creating bigger markets for farm produce and all in all calming the politi9cal tension within communities especially political players.
Accordingly, the minister of local government  convened a meting with the district council executive on 27th July 2015 and guided that in accordance with sections[2a] and 1[a] of the local government act cap243, eleven administrative units must be added on the proposed mubende municipality to satisfy the necessary legal requirements of population quota and land area on top of the public outcry such as;
a.Gayaza from Bagezza sub county, Kasambya county
b.Rwabagabo from Bagezza sub county, Kasambya county
c .Part of Mubende Rehabilitation Centre in Bagezza sub county, Kasambya county etc.
